Purple Lounge sponsored player, Stefan Mattsson, finished in a very impressive 5th position at the end of day 1a of the 2008 WSOP main event, holding 154,275 chips. Starting the day against 1,297 players – an assortment of veterans, amateurs, internet pros and celebrities – Stefan played extremely well in order to take his position so high up in the field of 657 players who also managed to survive the first day.

Stefan will now have a few days off while the other players compete in days 1b to 1d, before returning for day 2 on either Tuesday or Wednesday for the re-start. We wish him the best of luck, and will of course keep you all up to date with his progress.
