French Roulette

Roulette has ever lasting popularity as a casino game, and in casinos the world over often takes up the largest amount of casino floor space for table games. French Roulette is, as the name suggests, the version which originated from France and is in fact popular all over Europe and even further afield. The wheel has 36 numbers and a single 0, and makes use of the La Partage rule. Unlike other roulette versions, the bets in this game have their original French names, and there are also ‘call’ bets.

The payout schedule in French Roulette is the same as other versions, with the following odds paid:

• Straight Up (betting on a single number by placing a chip in the centre of the number) bet – pays 35 to 1
• Split Bet (bet on two numbers with a single chip, by placing it on the line that separates the two numbers) – pays 17 to 1
• Street Bet (a bet on three numbers in a row, made by placing a chip on the outside line at the start of the row)– pays 11 to 1
• Square Bet – (also known as a Box of Four, this bet is placed on the spot between the block of 4 numbers you choose) - pays 8 to 1
• Line Bet (covering six numbers, this bet must be made on the line above Dozen bets so that it rests between the two rows you wish to cover) – pays 5 to 1
• Column Bet – (betting on one of the three columns of numbers, done by placing your stake at the bottom of your chosen column) - pays 2 to 1
• Dozen Bet (you can bet on the numbers 1 to 12 being picked by placing your bet in the P12 box, the numbers 13 to 24 in the M12 box, and the last dozen numbers, 25 to 36 in the D12 box)– pays 2 to 1
• Even-Money Bet (the choices here are Manque (1-18), Passe (19-36), Pair (an even number), Impair (an odd number), Red or Black (by placing chips on the diamond of your chosen colour) – pays 1 to 1

The La Partage rule means that should the number zero be the winning number, any even money bets placed will result in half the stake from these bets being returned.

French Roulette also offers what are known as Call Bets. This is a feature which enables some of the most popular bet combinations to be placed automatically. Other options include Quick Spin which increases the speed of the wheel displaying your results faster and enabling you to play more games, Zoom Animation which shows a zoom of the roulette wheel on the display screen, and Keep Bet on the Table which leaves the previous games bets on the table after each spin rather than automatically removing them.

French Roulette is a game with extra features and a lower house edge compared with other versions, which when coupled with the chance of a big payout makes it a firm favourite with players.
