Casino War is probably by far the easiest game to play in a Casino, and is based on the childrens game ‘War’. The basic concept of the game is that players wager on who will pick the highest card between themselves and the dealer. The game is played with 6 standard decks of cards with Aces being high, and suits have no bearing on any outcome.

The player begins by deciding on his stake and placing this in the Ante box, then one card is drawn for both the player and the dealer. If the dealer has the higher card then the player loses and his stake is taken, if the player’s card is higher then he will win twice his stake.

In the event of a tie where both cards are of the same value the player has the choice of whether to go to war or to surrender. If he surrenders then he will forfeit half his stake, with the other half going to the house. If the player decides to go to war then he must place an additional bet equal to his original wager. At this point 3 cards will be burned before both player and dealer receive one more card each. If the players card is of a higher value or of the same value of the dealers then he will win an amount equal to the original stake only, if his card is of a lower value then he will lose to the dealer.

At Purple Lounge there is also the opportunity to make a tie bet before the first cards are drawn, which is done by placing a bet in the tie box. This bet will win for the player if the first two cards between him and the dealer are the same, and the player will win 10 times his original stake, plus his stake back. If the result is not a tie then the tie bet will be lost, and play will carry on as usual.

The player main decisions during the game are how much to wager on the original Ante bet, whether to place a tie bet, and the decision on whether to go to war in the result of a tie. Surrendering at this point does have a higher advantage for the house, so it is advisable never to surrender, and instead to double your stake and go to war.
